We managed to save this dirty oil pump from being changed. It was only a few months old. Although the boiler was new it had been connected to an old oil tank. We will always try to save your parts and money but will never compromise if a part needs changing.

We were called to a boiler break down and found that the oil pump had failed. At Jordans we won’t just fit an oil pump and leave, we always look for the reason for the failure. In this case the oil filter had not been changed for years causing the dirt to enter the oil pump causing it to fail.

When servicing we always check oil filters. The oil filter was so badly blocked that the oil line was full of sediment. In this case we changed the oil filter and flushed the oil line until the oil was clean and clear.

Oil filters will be changed when we service to maximise the life of your pump and to try to prevent breakdowns through the year.

This boiler was almost at the point of a write off. To avoid this we were prepared to spend the whole day cleaning the turbulator tubes and fitting new turbulators to save the boiler. In this case the condense trap had blocked causing the acidic water to back up into the boiler.

Boiler manufacturers insist on their boilers being commissioned when fitted. This image shows an example of why this is important; the oil supply hose was connected to the wrong port and a plastic plug had been left in. If left unnoticed this could have caused a major oil leak.

We also service Agas. The pots are always cleaned thoroughly through portways and new wicks are changed if necessary.

Part of a boiler service is to inspect an oil tank. After pulling back the bush we found a major split in the plastic oil tank, which the customer was unaware of. This could have resulted in a massive pollution problem, a possible fire and thousands of pounds of insurance claims with the possibility of the owner being responsible for the clean up.
